...is Coconut, the iceberg I saw many times during my trip. In one of the hundreds of pics it was captured here. Max (Shayan's wife) gave the iceberg the name via Facebook :)

Out of my hotel room... The greatest view I have had in recent years! It has to be in caps!

Taking in the views... Every house was painted in different colors. Gorgeous sight and the most clear, fresh air to breathe...
Boat cruise 30 June 2008
Margaret and Peter were able to quickly arrange a boat-trip for the day. It turned out to be our big luck, since on the next day the ice-floes were blocking the bay entrance.
Coconut 30 June 2008
As we were cruising around the bay, we got closer to Coconut, the Iceberg that hung out outside the bay...

Coconut 30 June 2008
Coconut is about 600 meters high! 5% of the berg are on top of the water - in this case about 30 meters.

I was freezing terribly... It was felt -20 degrees in the wind and ice....

Coconut from the Side.... 30 June 2008
Totally different shape... When we were close to it there was one side that looked unstable. Our Captain was very concerned - an iceberg this size breaking apart could create a big wave and easily throw the boat over.
Our Capitan 30 June 2008
He was a retired army major from the Danish Royal Coastguard. He told us lots of great stories. He would spend some weeks here in the winter skipping as a holiday.

Trampolines 1 July 2008
Trampolines were all over Tassilaq. Many families had one next to their homes and kids were jumping on them. I guess it might have to do with the fact that you really need great jumping skills when riding a sled....

Margaret arranged a special dinner for us at the Red House, where Robert Peroni, a South Tyrolian expat has created a hotel and tourist facility there. First course was Seal. It was really quite good, but most of the blubber was too greasy for me...

Robert trained locals to not just cook meats, but to use spices and side dishes as well. It was actually really great food!

These two kids found two little birds and played with them. We actually found the mother a bit away, very nervous with a third chick.
