Valley in the distance June 1993
Bernd on the right with the Death Valley in the background.... Or at least we thought it was the Death Valley....
Badwater June 1993
Lowest point in the Western Hemisphere. 86 metres below sea level.... Very, very hot in the summer....
Four Wheel Drive Required 22 November 2001
So I ended up being stuck in Death Valley, digging myself in further and further. Had an American family help me dig myself out.... This photo also shows my driving style... Always with a bottle of Snapple next to me....
Under a blood red sky 22 November 2001
This is actually on the other side of the sunset.... The entire sky was glowing dark red and mixed with the red sand of the valley, it created an apocalyptic atmosphere... Very, very beautiful....
Fiery Sky 22 November 2001
I am slowly running out of words to describe the sunsets I encounter....
Sunset and Juli 22 November 2001
Photo of the Death Valley sunset behind me with the camera resting on the car...
DV Campground 22 November 2001
The Death Valley campground area.... I have no idea who would be crazy enough to camp here in the summer....
Deja Vu.... 7 May 2002
Step through the timemachine.... Again, just like last time we mistook what lies behind us as the Death Valley....
A second later.... 7 May 2002
...a roar went through the air and a fighterjet almost blew us to the ground.... if the camera had gone of then, this is what it would have looked like....
Sand Dunes 7 May 2002
Screaming hot....
Fashion Accessoire 7 May 2002
At first the color of our Mustang was a bit too much of a screaming one... However after a while we realized... It totally fit Bernd and his hair color.... Like an essential fashion accessory....
Bye bye Fraenk! 7 May 2002
10 seconds later we drove on... We wish him well....
J's 9 at Badwater.... 7 May 2002
The entire gang.... At Badwater.... That place hasn't changed much in the last 9 years... apart from the sign....
He ran all across the Death Valley! 7 May 2002
Fraenk reunited with us after being left back at Furnace Creek....
The fast and the furious 7 May 2002
Really great photo of our gang and our vehicles....
Krusty the Clown 7 May 2002

Patterns in the dry dirt 19 January 2003
With my cameras in my bag, I rushed to Death Valley to experience the Sand Dunes in the light of the full moon....
Evil side of Windows XP 19 January 2003
Just liked the patterns of the setting sun....
Sand Dunes 19 January 2003
Reached Death Valley and stayed in the middle of the Sand Dunes for four hours until I saw the full moon rising....
Waiting.... 19 January 2003
The sunset there was not really spectacular... No clouds on the sky... Then several groups ran around a little girl from a Scout group got lost... Meanwhile I just hung around and played with Velvia film on my film SLR....
Full Moon Rising 19 January 2003
The moon rose two hours after sunset.... I tried to find a good spot to take a picture against something else, but the moon is too bright so this doesn't work....
Sand Dunes in the moon light 20 January 2003
I got up at 5am the next morning... and walked under the full moon to the sand dunes... This is a long exposure of the dunes under the full moon.... before the sun rose... It was quite cold, but really a nice experience....
Popular for photographers 20 January 2003
A lady with a medium format camera was out there as well waiting for the sunrise... She stood very still....
First light on the horizon 20 January 2003
And then everything went quick....
Mountains turn red.... 20 January 2003
A brilliant red glow....
Mountains turn yellow and brown.... 20 January 2003
...and then soon went pale.... It reminded me of Uluru, Ayers Rock in Australia changing its colours.
First rays of sun on the dunes.... 20 January 2003
The first warm rays of sun came onto the dunes....
Contrast 20 January 2003
between the shadows and the light....
Sahara 20 January 2003

Footsteps in the sand 20 January 2003
Too bad I didn't see any critters....
Self Portrait with Tripod 20 January 2003
Lifting the tripod up....
Full moon over the Dunes 20 January 2003
This is 400mm at F64! From a tripod... The depth of field was so big, that all the dust shone up as dirt... I removed the dirt with the healing brush and raised the contrast of the moon by 15%. Otherwise this photo is untouched....
My favourite Dune 20 January 2003
Great shape!
Devil's Golf Course 20 January 2003
'Only the devil would play golf here'.
Back once more.... 20 January 2003
