North America/New York/Liberty Island Location: Manhattan North America/New York/Niagara Falls

Supertan May 1993
I met Bernd at JFK, so we were ready to head out for our six weeks in the US... He had been touring the West Indies for six weeks, strangely enough on a mountain bike.
Rob me, I got a camera May 1993
I remember we were walking around New York City on our first day and tourists weren't dressed like tourists, because city guides usually tell you to dress casual as a precaution against muggers. Anyway, everybody saw that we were tourists, holding our head up to the sky and starring at the skyscrapers and bumping into things in our way.

Indian Food under the red light 8 June 2001
No, this is not one of those strange colours photographs that my camera sometimes produces... This is how it really looked in this Indian restaurant in mid-town that my colleague Hiroe and myself visited.... All the Indian places in that area have these decorations... They truly tend to give you a headache....
Twin Towers 8 June 2001
Another photo I dug up after September 11th of the Twin Towers as seen from Union Square.

The missing and the dead 20 April 2002
Some photos of posters when peope were looking for their loved ones, full of hope and descriptions.... When all hope was lost, the city was covered in a second wave of posters.... Same photos, but with poems and declarations of love and loss....
Happiest moments 20 April 2002
The photos of the missing were never passport photos... They were photos of the people at their happiest, at weddings, parties, holding babies.... That is how people want to remember them, not as statistics or how they spent their last day... Terribly sad...
Midnight at Ground Zero 21 April 2002
The light shining is where the workers were continuing to remove rubble all night, 24/7.... The gap is so visible, when you look at earlier photos of the World Trade Center taken from the Empire State Building....

Rain falling on Manhattan 28 September 2004
This was probably the worst trip to NYC. I love the place, but I had been worn out from the travel and just wanted to be somewhere static for a while. Then it started raining. At least I had two hours in Central Park after my flight in, just sitting on a rock, pondering things....
