The Sphere - Battery Park - Sculpture, September 11
Fritz Koenig's sculpture... Once buried under the rubble of the Twin Towers, the sculpture has now found a new temporary home in Battery Park....

I don't think this should be a temporary memorial...don't you think it should be permanant? I saw it in 2005 and it is just amazing. I think it is the perfect memorial because of what it IS. Standing in front of it, looking at the destruction of the torn metal, you cannot help but remember and feel all the horror and pain of that day...it's overwhelming. I think that seeing the rips and scars and knowing how they got there is painful and humbling and very important in a way that pictures or a pretty building or park could never be.

You are missing the flame. This is important in recieving the right effect from the sculpture.
