Somber Sunday

Somber Sunday - Hiroshima - A-Bomb
On Sunday morning I took the Shinkansen to Hiroshima. I have always wanted to visit the memorial site there. When I was a teenager and Pershing 2 were stationed and the arms race was at its top, I had frequent nightmares of the Nuclear Holocaust.

In 2000 I visited Hiroshima and found its people and environment filled with peace. As I walked through the museum I felt the weight of my country on my back as I viewed photos and drawings of the devastation left by the atom bomb. I choose peace.
