Trendy place... NOT!
Hollywood, 10 November 2001
Again in Barney's Beanery like the year before.... where many people hang out after the parade....
Joe's look on this photo is really funny....
So, after I moved into a different apartment, I really wondered why I hadn't done that earlier... The view onto the sunset was fantastic... In my old place there was no sunshine after 11am....
So we walked into this place which was supposed to be frequented by the famous and rich. It turned out a recruiting place for an MTV singles show and containing a foam party, too.... We ran outside as quick as we could.... Found a nicer bar after that....

Under a blood red sky
Death Valley, 22 November 2001
I took this photo kneeling in the sand with my rollerblades still on....
The picture doesn't do the atmosphere of this place justice. I have never seen so many planes.... This is just a small part of the overall area in which a hundred planes were parked, now not needed due to the airlines having cut back their schedules. Planes from KLM, Continental, Lufthansa, etc.... Very eerie...
So I ended up being stuck in Death Valley, digging myself in further and further. Had an American family help me dig myself out.... This photo also shows my driving style... Always with a bottle of Snapple next to me....
This is actually on the other side of the sunset.... The entire sky was glowing dark red and mixed with the red sand of the valley, it created an apocalyptic atmosphere... Very, very beautiful....

I am slowly running out of words to describe the sunsets I encounter....
Photo of the Death Valley sunset behind me with the camera resting on the car...
The Death Valley campground area.... I have no idea who would be crazy enough to camp here in the summer....
After spending the months in LA and missing the seasons, I loved seeing the sight of yellow and red autumn leaves again.

What I really find cool about Lake Powell is that with its blue lake and scattered shape, it looks like a picture of the earth from the far distance, taken by a satellite....
My first glimpse of what lay ahead....
Hundreds of miles away from LA, hotel rooms across the country, twenty CDs, lots of thinking later it was me at my final destination for the Thanksgiving weekend: Monument Valley. I felt a rush of incredible joy come over me when I looked down onto those old peaks....

Desert Bushes
Kayenta, 24 November 2001
Massive, impressive lies this rock like a stranded ship in the desert.
Took me a long time to get it right... Running to and from the camera, making marks in the sand... But finally it worked out... And I love these photos. WHat makes them interesting are the shadows of the clouds on the ground and how this changes the mood of the photo....
Wow... Some have told me this looks as if I copied and pasted myself on the picture... But I was there....
So quiet.... and beautiful....

Hoover Dam at Night

Those rock formations on the right look like ancient statues overlooking the land....
Look over Navajoland, with Glen Canyon in the middle and in the distance the snow-topped formations of Canyonlands and its surrounding mountains....
Before I head off back home again....
Many miles later.... passing road blocks watching for terrorists and turned over SUV's I was back in Vegas.
