Around the corner of Chris' apartment... Very close to the Columbia Studios - now Sony Pictures....
Everyone comes round to watch the fireworks....
 Felt like somewhere in Texas....
 Chris and Nisha invited their friends (including me) to watch the fireworks with them at Culver City....
The night turned out to be quiet though....

I like the patterns that the rockets paint....

 Spot the difference
 As my parents were in Austria already, I stepped out of the plane, sent my Video camera to repair and spotted the Kebap stand.... If they had had a choice of Kebap and Kaviar on the plane, no question what I would have chosen....

Even Inga was there on that weekend....
So I arrived at my my mum's birthday party and was welcome by an Austrian family in the garden....
 Not quite....
 ...traditional Austrian music was heard.... and a brass trio from the village that had already played at my mum's 50th ten years ago reappeared.

Mathias, Kathi, myself and Claudia...
I wanted a photo of the two.... As Gerd put his arm around Werner and both were smiling at me, I said 'Nono, I want you both to look serious!'... This is the outcome... Too serious, but what character faces the two have!
 Then I told them that it was too serious and I changed my mind and wanted a happy photo again....
 My mum got many flowers for her birthday.... This bouquet from Edda and Herbert was especially beautiful....

You can see the moon in the trees...
Daddy prepared a short slideshow with highlights from my mum's first sixty years. Some amazing ones that I had never seen before were amongst them.
The night came and we stayed on....
 So we headed to the town's 'fab' local disco called Nightlife.... Foam parties, drinks called 'Horny Deer' - Geiler Hirsch - didn't keep us there for long, but good to have another drink nonetheless...

Gerhard was trying to arrange a little song with us.... Was a wish by my mum, but at midnight after a heavy dinner, it just couldn't work....
 Poor Gerhard, all that work for preparation... As he was packing the notes in, the girls started to sing without a conductor...
 Reingard had to go to the airport soon, so we had to cut the walk short....

In the background the Kitzbuehler Horn and also our part of our skiing 'house-mountain' to the left...
 With the paraglides, they jump off the Kitzbuehler Horn and float in the air for about 20 minutes....
 One of my favourite walks leads up through this cleft to a square overlooking vertical walls.... One of the walls is called 'Fleischbank' - the Butcher's table - impressive, but taking its toll on some climbers....

Ice Floes in Hudson Bay... Greenland was sadly covered in clouds that day, but Hudson Bay made up for it....
Hudson Bay... the ice Floes were glowing in the sun.... the light from the planet radiated up... It looked as if I was floating in space... Or maybe just a bit too much wine....
 Bright, hot light wanting to radiate through the window into the airplane....

...and throw it over a flat basin and you get LA... Notice how just a stone-throw away from the skyscrapers of financial downtown the sprawl starts again... The No-Go areas start here...
