Galeria
Berlin, 1 September 2003
Sony built a massive plaza in the middle of Berlin at the Postdam place.
With the exhibition center and cinema....
On the East side....
The ugly former Eastern Alexander Platz. The Galeria was the Jewel of East Germany. It had all the riches you could buy if you were member of the Communist party.... Now it is a normal department store....

Rijksmuseum
Amsterdam, 14 September 2003
At night... Nice lightshow... After that I had dinner at the Hackesche Hoefe after a taxi driver recommended it to me....
I went to IBC in Amsterdam for some meetings and went a bit around Amsterdam the night before the meetings....
From the 20th floor of the Hotel Okura... On the left the Rijksmuseum.
Amsterdam's most famous building...
Sculpture?

Vicky's Leaving Do Part 1
Edinburgh, 18 September 2003
Someone left this chair in the pool before the Rijksmuseum. First it looked like a sculpture, but the jacket was actually attached with cellotape, so I was a bit confused....
That's what it sounded like getting closer to the passage through the Rijksmuseum. Instead it were these three musicians who especially via the Tuba and with the help of the massive acoustics of the passage created the most amazing sounding music - it was like being in front of a huge organ with 30 feet pipes...
Great, gorgeous sunny day. Amsterdamers were listening to life music, drinking beer in the sun, nice!
Vicky said 'Goodbye' to work (as visualized by her OWL colleagues) and left for Australia....

Abe

Slightly more friendlier hand-signs than in the previous photo...
The reflecting pool off the Lincoln Memorial....
And you can see Abe's bug statue looming in the background....
Amazing politician.... What a difference to those who have followed in his footsteps....

Korean War Memorial
National Mall, 20 September 2003
Suddenly these German soldiers appeared from nowhere in front of Abe's memorial... It turned out that it was a special day in DC with troops from different countries visiting and paying tribute to military memorials....
Many names, far too many names....
Reflection of Washington Monument in the Vietnam Memorial...
Soldiers, looking confused, running through the rain...

National Mall, 20 September 2003
What i like about the Korean memorial is that it lists the names of all the countries who participated and all the lives lost.... Too many... The inscription at the US side of the memorial is poignant:
Isabel almost rammed into one of the pillars of the newly built WW2 memorial - a memorial which to me looks monstrous and will block the view from the Monument to the reflecting pool to the Lincoln Memorial....
in front of the home of their prez....
...with new inhabitants at the beginning of 2005....

Ground Zero, 23 September 2003
Reflection of a skyscraper off a skyscraper....
Roughly one and a half year after I went there, back at Ground Zero. Like a wound, it's slowly healing over...
Already a memorial and tourist site....
Just off Ground Zero, the first place where I ever had Sushi with Bernd back 10 years ago... I didn't like it then, but love it now...

I really like the look of it....
with a Chinese building back to the left... I really dig this photo....
Brooklyn in the background, Hiroe in the front - big contrast! Hiroe was my NYC guide once again, leading me over the river to Brooklyn where we visited a friend of hers who opened a gallery and then we crossed the river at night....
Just like the contrast between nice NYC and Brooklyn....

Reminds me of my Sydney photos....
You can envision the Towers there a little bit more than two years before....
Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge... Hiroe led me to this place here, called the Riverside Cafe. She and her friend had ice cream and I had a photo session with tripod....
Amazing to see Manhattan come closer to you that way....
